LOST Returns!

It was a long wait: A long, long, long, wait but LOST is finally here. In case you don’t know what I’m writing about, LOST is one of those TV shows that created a feeling of love and/or hate on those who watched it . The new season, that premiered last Monday, is also the show’s last and many people are asking if all the questions that are still open will ever get an answer. They probably won’t get it, but does it really matter?

LOST has a cult following of lovers and detractors and the beauty of it is that, unlike other tv series and despite all criticism, the ratings of the show have been good enough to keep it on air. Let’s face it, LOST is not your normal TV show: At first it looked like one, just a story of how a group of complete strangers had to get together in order to survive a plane crash on a deserted(?) island. When strange noises (the sound design of the show is one of the best I’ve ever heard) start to invade the show, monsters, time travel, scientific experiments, death people that talk to the living, conspiracy theories, flash backs that not only take the viewer back in time but, and more importantly, inside every main character’s psyche, the show started to get interesting to a new audience.

LOST’s final season premiere (a double episode called LA-X) didn’t let down. More and more it is clear that LOST is not about an island, or about being lost in an island, but about how lost all of its main characters were before they got to the island and still are. By introducing a new kind of flash, this time the “Flash Sideways”, LOST’s writers are bringing even more depth to the series that has always been supercharged with inspiration from such literary genius as Kafka, JG Ballard or by Einstein’s time and relativity theories.

Is it too late to catch up on LOST? Not really. The producers have put an excellent recap that makes a good attempt to make sense of it all, and get you ready for the final season. If it doesn’t make much sense to you, don’t worry: you are not the only one feeling LOST.

Are you? Let me know in the comments?
